The 34-year-old guard averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game with the Milwaukee Bucks\u2019 G-League affiliate last season, though he has not been part of an NBA roster since 2024.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"9a\">In a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theplayerstribune.com\/victor-oladipo-nba-basketball-letter-to-gms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">feature <\/a>on The Player\u2019s Tribune, Oladipo pitched himself to NBA front offices.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"9f\">\u201cTo say to any GM who\u2019s willing to listen: I believe my body is finally right. I believe I still have GREAT (and more importantly, WINNING) basketball in front of me. I believe I can be a valuable contributor to an NBA locker room. And what I\u2019m asking for right now is an opportunity to prove it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"9k\">In addition to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/rockets\/onsi\/2-time-all-star-details-how-hakeem-olajuwon-impacted-his-nba-career-01m1f4n2eyt7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">unique connection to Hakeem Olajuwon<\/a>, Oladipo was previously a member of the Houston Rockets. He averaged 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists over 20 games. Most recently, he suffered a left knee injury during a playoff series with the Miami Heat in 2023.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"ac\">While he is past his athletic prime, Oladipo\u2019s basketball IQ and defensive focus can make him a meaningful contributor within an NBA rotation. If he is willing to accept a veteran minimum deal, which aligns with the feature\u2019s context, there are teams in the league that could benefit from a veteran combo guard.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"ah\">Houston\u2019s backcourt features the likes of veteran leader Fred VanVleet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/rockets\/onsi\/amen-thompson-ranked-top-5-shooting-guard-in-nba-01m19kbhjxxn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rising star<\/a> Amen Thompson, defensive specialist Marcus Smart, Sixth Man of the Year contender Reed Sheppard, and incoming rookie Bruce Thornton. Rockets head coach Ime Udoka will have various lineups to experiment with, with one of the questions being where Sheppard fits into next season&#8217;s rotation.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"am\">Although Houston has one open standard roster spot for the upcoming season, the franchise is hovering close to the luxury tax line. Unless injuries become an issue, there aren\u2019t enough meaningful minutes to go around to add a player looking to revitalize his stock.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"ar\">Based on the Rockets\u2019 backcourt depth and thin cap space, Oladipo is better suited for a different NBA playing destination.
