Jacob Tobey has reportedly returned to his job with the San Antonio Spurs.<\/p>\n

In July, the Spurs<\/a> TV play-by-play announcer had reportedly been fired amid an alleged affair with the sister of a San Antonio player.<\/p>\n

Front Office Sports<\/a> were the first to break the news, reporting that Tobey was accused on social media of cheating on his girlfriend with the sister of a player.<\/p>\n

The allegation came after an Instagram story on Tobey\u2019s account posted: \u201cThis is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. @lorenkwatrs So feel free to continue following me if you really think I\u2019m a good guy because I\u2019m not. :)\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Awful Announcing<\/a>, the Instagram story was followed by a photo strip that appeared to show Tobey and Loren Waters, the sister of Spurs player Lindy Waters III, together kissing.<\/p>\n

As a result of the social media posts, Front Office Sports reported Tobey was out as the Spurs\u2019 lead play-by-play announcer.<\/p>\n

However, in a stunning reversal, Tobey is back with the NBA <\/a>franchise.<\/p>\n

Front Office Sports said Friday that multiple sources had told them the announcer was gone, but \u201chis exit has been undone, and he is returning to the team<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source confirmed to them that Tobey has indeed gotten his job back with the team, although the Spurs declined to comment.<\/p>\n

Not long after, Tobey took to X to share a statement, thanking the Spurs while acknowledging he needs to ‘regain trust’. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thank the Spurs for allowing me time to step away to sort out issues in my personal life,\u201d Tobey wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand that I will have to regain trust within the organization and across our community, a community where I will continue to be present with enthusiasm and passion. I believe I have the best job in the world and am thrilled to be able to continue as the team\u2019s play-by-play announcer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the Spurs\u2019 booth, Tobey worked at 9NEWS in Denver and has called play-by-play for outlets including Fox Sports and the Pac-12 Network.<\/p>\n
