He dropped a career-high 45 points on Feb. 9, tying the single-game program scoring record (Wes Unseld).<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The 20-year-old was limited to 21 games due to a back injury that sidelined him in the middle of the season and during the postseason. However, he was\u00a0still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/stathead\/basketball\/cbb\/player-game-finder.cgi?request=1&amp;match=player_game_count_season&amp;timeframe=seasons&amp;year_min=2026&amp;year_max=2026&amp;comp_type=any&amp;comp_id=NCAAM&amp;conf_id=acc&amp;ccomp%5B1%5D=gt&amp;cval%5B1%5D=5&amp;cstat%5B1%5D=ast\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one of 15 players in the ACC<\/a>\u00a0to register 10 or more games with at least five assists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Brown became the Cardinals&#8217; highest-drafted player since Felton Spencer was selected sixth overall in 1990. He was the first top-10 pick from Louisville since 1996 (Samaki Walker, No. 9) and the school\u2019s first first-round pick since Donovan Mitchell in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The 6-foot-5 Brown debuted with the Nets in summer league, averaging 15 points, four assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 34.6% from 3-point range in four games. His father, Christopher Sr., played at West Florida, and his mother, Marisela, played at St. Petersburg College. He will continue that trend with the Nets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;I chose it in like fourth or fifth grade,&#8221; Brown said,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Da05c2giaMz\/?img_index=1&amp;igsh=ejY5YmlxeTJreHkw\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">via the NBA on Instagram<\/a>. &#8220;I kind of just went with the number because I liked Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook at the time, and I still do. After studying him as he grew up, Brown had the opportunity to learn and seek advice from Rondo, which he said proved invaluable throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;I was fortunate enough to have him as a mentor this year,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Ac3lA52wAPE?si=YMvcgKrqLOgm-z9C&amp;t=1509\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brown said on &#8220;Cousins&#8221; with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady in July<\/a>. &#8220;He was in Louisville.
