When the Boston Celtics<\/a> decided to move on from Jaylen Brown in a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that also included Paul George, it was one of the most shocking deals of the past few years. Reports suggested the Celtics and Brown’s relationship wasn’t where it needed to be.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Celtics clearly felt they had to make the decision, and it doesn’t sound like they only talked to the 76ers about it. In fact, Boston was looking for a lot more in a trade with another team, as the Minnesota Timberwolves showed interest. Per the latest report, though, the Celtics wanted Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wolves did have real discussions with the Boston Celtics about Jaylen Brown. They had a lot of internal discussions about it as well\u2026 The Celtics wanted Rudy and Naz, and it was going to be just too high of a price to pay,\u201d Krawczynski said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Getting Gobert and Reid back would have been a major haul for the Celtics, and one could even argue that would have been better than what the Celtics got from the 76ers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, George also has the opportunity to come in, drop 25 points per night, and get back to what he was just two years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before joining the 76ers, there was an argument that George was a top-five-to-10 player in the NBA. With a great system in Boston and some very good players around him, he should be in a nice spot to be what everybody expects him to be.<\/p>\n
