If there is one thing Jaylen Brown is truly elite at, besides turning the ball over with his left hand on a crucial drive, it is convincing himself he is the smartest guy in any room he walks into.<\/p>\n

The NBA<\/a> has a long history of foolish quotes, but Jaylen routinely delivers gems so profoundly pseudo-intellectual they belong in a Hall of Fame for tone-deaf vanity.<\/p>\n

That is saying something in a league run by LeBron<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brown, the new Sixers<\/a> star, recently sat down with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali for a slick Hollywood Reporter feature, and predictable as sunrise, Brown could not stick to basketball.<\/p>\n

Instead, we got his latest sermon on why he is far too deep to be categorized as a mere athlete.<\/p>\n

“I refuse to adopt the idea that me being an athlete, I\u2019m just here to entertain people,” Brown said, apparently rebranding himself from NBA wing to sociopolitical visionary.<\/p>\n

“They want our athletes, our musicians, our entertainers, our people of influence to think that we just here for entertainment purposes. I\u2019m going to forever disagree with that.”<\/p>\n

Right. When millions of fans fork over hard-earned cash for tickets and jerseys, they aren\u2019t looking to kick back on a Tuesday night and watch a game.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re obviously tuning in to absorb the profound cultural wisdom of a guy making over $300 million to bounce a leather ball on hardwood.<\/p>\n

BOSTON CELTICS STAR JAYLEN BROWN TELLS ESPN’S STEPHEN A SMITH TO ‘BE QUIET AND RETIRE’<\/a><\/p>\n

For years, Brown has cultivated a reputation as the league\u2019s resident philosopher-king, masking questionable judgment behind a wall of academic posturing.<\/p>\n

He has never been shy about marveling at his own brainpower. In a 2022 interview with The Ringer, Brown described how people supposedly react when he speaks.<\/p>\n

Brown sahred, “When I open my mouth and talk, sometimes people say they are amazed of my intellect. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s because I truly speak in a way that people can understand or feel a certain way, or because they don\u2019t expect it.”<\/p>\n

Astonishing stuff.<\/p>\n

STEPHEN A SMITH FIRES BACK AT JAYLEN BROWN AFTER CELTICS STAR CALLED HIM THE ‘FACE OF CLICKBAIT MEDIA’<\/a><\/p>\n

When reports surfaced that NBA front-office personnel viewed Brown\u2019s “smartest guy in the room” persona as a locker-room turnoff, Brown addressed the criticism during an Instagram Live session.<\/p>\n

“No offense to everybody in sports,” Brown declared, “but the bar is f***ing low.”<\/p>\n

NBA media fanboys love to brag that Brown was an “MIT Fellow.”<\/p>\n

This is the same guy who claimed he was “undecided” on whether the Earth was flat when Kyrie Irving<\/a> went down that rabbit hole. He defended Irving\u2019s promotion of an antisemitic film, stuck by Kanye West\u2019s Donda Sports long after everyone else fled and wore a Q-Ray-style magnetic necklace marketed as a device that could supposedly alter the body\u2019s energy frequencies through a smartphone app.<\/p>\n

Yet Brown still expects the world to treat him like a generational thought leader who transcends basketball, all while complaining about how unfairly athletes are treated.<\/p>\n

In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, Brown complained that athletes were still expected to “shut up and dribble.”<\/p>\n

Nobody is telling Jaylen Brown to shut up. We\u2019re just asking him to stop acting like he split the atom.<\/p>\n
