Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey had an OK season in 2024-25 averaging 26.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 43.7% from the floor and 33.7% from deep. It was a season where he had to take on more responsibility than ever before with the injuries to Joel Embiid and Paul George and he morphed into a mature leader for this group.<\/p>\n

Maxey prepared his teammates every night as best he could including encouraging younger players such as Adem Bona, Justin Edwards, and a slew of players who were in and out of the lineup due to two-way deals and 10-days. Therefore, his numbers slipped a bit and the Sixers were unable to have much success as a team.<\/p>\n

The Ringer ranked the top 100 players in the NBA<\/a> right now and Maxey came in ranked No. 39 on the list:<\/p>\n

Maxey has juice. He doesn\u2019t run so much as he zips around the court, like an electric car, and he covers ground in an instant\u2014whether he\u2019s pushing in transition, relocating off a pass, or dusting his defender on the perimeter. He\u2019s a good shooter, despite subpar percentages this season, with a stepback so sharp it can cut glass and range that extends by the year. His playmaking also took a major jump last season without James Harden around to dominate the ball and has remained at that level thanks to a new unobstructed view. And he does it all with the positive spirit and infectious energy of your team\u2019s favorite role player.<\/p>\n

One has to believe Maxey will have a bounce-back in 2025-26 due to the fact that he will have his star teammates return. As long as Embiid and George can get back on the floor, Maxey and the Sixers should be able to get back on the floor and have much more success than they did when they had to battle a slew of injuries.
