As a result, many expected Kuminga to get his money this summer.<\/p>\n<p>But Kuminga surprised fans with the decision to sign a two-year, $12.4 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/GettyImages-2286682726-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Gilbert Arenas speaks onstage during the Gil's Arena panel at the Fanatics Fest NYC 2026 at Jacob Javits Center.\" class=\"wp-image-2594985\" \/>Photo by Roy Rochlin\/Getty Images for FanaticsGilbert Arenas thinks Jonathan Kuminga\u2019s Minnesota Timberwolves deal is shady<\/p>\n<p>In light of the NBA finding the LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard guilty of salary cap circumvention, every new signing in the league has been under the microscope.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping that in mind, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently expressed major doubts over Kuminga taking such a massive pay cut to sign with the Timberwolves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year that you don\u2019t take the deal that you originally had took, that money would have been in your f______ pocket already,\u201d Arenas said.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cTell them to look at everybody\u2019s writing. Look at your contract. Someone has to be getting paid somewhere. Check your family members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone is getting you paid to look the other way.
