The Minnesota Timberwolves are officially on the clock. Media day is Monday, training camp opens Tuesday, and the first preseason game (Oct. 5 in Milwaukee) is just 10 days away. It will also be the first taste of a brand-new TV broadcast home for Wolves fans.

After decades on Fox Sports North (later Bally Sports North) and, more recently, FanDuel Sports Network North, the Wolves struck a deal with DAZN back in July, making the streaming platform the exclusive local home of MN Timberwolves basketball.

MN Timberwolves reveal new TV broadcast team for 2026-27

If you want to watch the team’s 67 local broadcasts, it will cost you anywhere from $19.99 a month to $139.99 for the season. Along with the Wolves’ new TV home will come some new TV voices.

On Friday, the MN Timberwolves officially announced their 2026-27 broadcast roster, which is now headlined by two new, veteran play-by-play voices that come in with big-time national bravado — Kevin Calabro and Jon “Boog” Sciambi. Jim Petersen will remain as the team’s color analyst.

READY FOR THE SEASON 🎙️ pic.twitter.com/6GrUaOOVwJ

— Minnesota Timberwolves (@Timberwolves) September 25, 2026

The new season will feature a stacked local broadcast lineup highlighted by play-by-play announcers Kevin Calabro and Jon “Boog” Sciambi, who enter their inaugural seasons calling Wolves action, alongside Jim Petersen, the organization’s celebrated color analyst who returns for his 29th season. Meghan McPeak, an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster with experience across the NBA, WNBA and international competition, joins as the new sideline reporter and studio show host for road games.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The release doesn’t spell out how the schedule will be split. However, Howard Sinker of The Daily Agenda, who first reported the hires on Thursday, said Calabro and Sciambi were expected to call the majority of the Wolves’ schedule.

If Calabro’s voice sounds familiar, it should. He spent 21 seasons as the play-by-play voice of the Seattle SuperSonics starting in 1987, before he moved up the coast to Portland, where he called Trail Blazers games for nine seasons. Calabro was also the lead radio play-by-play man for the NBA Finals in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

4 minutes of the sweet, sweet sounds of @KevinCalabro‘s one-of-a-kind voice. pic.twitter.com/LHTupCjlxY

— Portland Trail Blazers (@trailblazers) July 1, 2020

Related: Anthony Edwards Falls Slightly in Latest NBA Top 100

Per The Daily Agenda, Calabro walked away this summer after turning down a low contract offer from the Blazers’ new ownership. The Blazers’ loss is Minnesota’s gain.

Sciambi, meanwhile, is mostly known as a baseball guy. In fact, not only is he the current TV voice of the Chicago Cubs on Marquee Sports Network, but he’s considered one of ESPN’s top MLB voices.

Pete Crow-Armstrong joins the 40-40 club!

Boog Sciambi has the Cubs call for Marquee Sports Network. ⚾️🔥🎙️pic.twitter.com/3ZzNpWYdmX

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) September 24, 2026

Sciambi knows his basketball too, don’t worry. He’s been calling college basketball for ESPN since 2005 and on the play-by-play call for Big 12 college basketball games for over a decade.

Michael Grady, Alan Horton still part of Timberwolves broadcasts

If you’re wondering about Michael Grady, who took over as the Wolves’ TV voice in 2022, he isn’t going anywhere… exactly. Grady enters his fifth year on the broadcast and will keep calling Wolves games alongside his national duties with NBC and Amazon.

That national workload is why Grady has been scaling back his local duties, which helps explain why the Wolves went out and added two more play-by-play voices.

Related: Timberwolves Now Want Help Paying for New Arena; Will They Get It?

Alan Horton, who has called more than 1,500 Wolves games (including the 2024 and 2025 runs to the Western Conference Finals), returns for his 20th season with the franchise, back as the team’s full-time radio voice. He’ll also call a select number of games on TV again.

And then there’s Petersen. The St. Louis Park native and former Gopher played 491 games over eight NBA seasons with the Rockets, Kings and Warriors. Season No. 29 on Wolves broadcasts is a heckuva run.

Meghan McPeak, Parker Fox join Timberwolves’ “Wolves Live” crew

The other big new name is McPeak, who, in addition to her sideline duties, will host the “Wolves Live” pregame and postgame show on road trips, with Petersen as the analyst.

She spent nearly eight years with the Washington Wizards, Mystics and Capital City Go-Go, and in 2015 became the first female play-by-play broadcaster in the G League as the voice of Raptors 905.

For home games, Marney Gellner returns as the “Wolves Live” host, with analysis from Lynx assistant coach Rebekkah Brunson, plus a familiar name for Gopher fans — former Minnesota men’s basketball captain Parker Fox.

What the new broadcast team means for Timberwolves fans

Let’s be honest, Wolves fan aren’t thrilled about paying for yet another streaming subscription this season. With that being said, hiring a couple of proven, nationally respected voices to call games is a pretty good way to soften the blow.

Calabro’s NBA résumé starts with the Kansas City Kings in 1983 and includes 30 seasons in Seattle and Portland.

The one piece still missing is the over-the-air channel. According to the team, 15 of the 67 local broadcasts will also air on an over-the-air provider, but the channel and games are still to be announced.

**KARE 11 simulcast a handful of Wolves games in 2024-25, but nothing is official for this season.

We’ll get our first listen to the new crew soon. DAZN is producing three preseason games locally (Oct. 5 at Milwaukee, Oct. 14 vs. Detroit and Oct. 16 at Chicago) before the Wolves open the regular season Oct. 21 in Miami.

Mentioned in this article:Boog Sciambi Broadcasting News DAZN Kevin Calabro

More About:Minnesota Timberwolves

Add MinnesotaSportsFan as a preferred source on Google.    !["Google]("https://www.rawchili.com/nba/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/google_preferred_source_badge.png"){kind=icon}
