\u201cI\u2019m going to win Sixth Man of the Year this year,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo you\u2019re not, bro,\u201d Castle scoffs.<\/p>\n
The reference\u2014to the prize awarded to the best player who comes off the bench\u2014is surprising; only a month earlier at a press conference after the Finals, teammate Devin Vassell suggested that Harper had been frustrated with \u201cplaying time and different roles that he was in.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to win Sixth Man of the Year,\u201d Harper insists.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not going to be Sixth Man,\u201d Castle says. \u201cWho are you going to be Sixth Man for?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t f-ing know\u2014God?\u201d Harper answers.<\/p>\n
You don\u2019t actually think you\u2019re going to come off the bench, do you? I cut in.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s the political answer here?\u201d Harper says, looking down at my recorder again. He calibrates his voice into its cheeriest pitch: \u201cI\u2019m going to do whatever the team needs me to do, man. If that\u2019s come off the bench\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
He stops. \u201cThat\u2019s crazy. F- no. I ain\u2019t coming off no bench.\u201d<\/p>\n
