{"id":853077,"date":"2026-10-07T14:06:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T14:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/853077\/"},"modified":"2026-10-07T14:06:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T14:06:15","slug":"northwest-notes-dundon-ball-thunder-strawther","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/853077\/","title":{"rendered":"Northwest Notes: Dundon, Ball, Thunder, Strawther"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon, whose first year as the majority shareholder of the franchise has been plagued by minor controversies, sent a letter to season ticket holders on Tuesday in which he vowed to make the Blazers a championship-caliber team, according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7667423\/2026\/10\/06\/tom-dundon-trail-blazers-arena-letter\/?unlocked_article_code=1.G1E.l5Qh.M61ee4KWM-N5&amp;source=emp_shared_article&amp;smid=ta-ios-share\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jason Quick of The Athletic<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/sports\/2026\/10\/trail-blazers-owner-dundon-vows-to-bring-championship-to-portland.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mike Freeman of The Oregonian<\/a> (subscription required).<\/p>\n<p>Within the letter, Dundon discussed the strides that core Blazers like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/avdijde01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-10-07_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Deni Avdija<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/clingdo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-10-07_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Donovan Clingan<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/camarto01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-10-07_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Toumani Camara<\/a> made last season and expressed optimism about adding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/moranja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-10-07_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ja Morant<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lillada01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-10-07_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Damian Lillard<\/a> to that group. He wrote that his expectation is for the team to \u201ccompete every night\u201d and take \u201canother step forward\u201d in 2026\/27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m still getting to know Portland and this fanbase,\u201d Dundon said. \u201cBut one thing is already clear: you show up, you care, and you expect more than mediocrity. I respect that. I saw the same commitment in Raleigh, where fans just watched (Dundon\u2019s Carolina Hurricanes) hoist the Stanley Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe in making promises I can\u2019t back up. My track record speaks for itself, and my intention here is clear: bring a championship to Portland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Quick observes, while Dundon addressed the Moda Center renovations and suggested the goal is to ensure the arena is \u201cone of the best buildings in the NBA,\u201d he stopped short of guaranteeing that the Blazers will remain in Portland long-term. The Wolves got a glimpse of what that looks like in Monday\u2019s preseason opener, as Ball contributed 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists in 17 minutes.
