Flagg, whose second NBA season is about to begin, has a\u00a0four-year deal with the Mavs that includes team options for the third and fourth seasons. The\u00a0Mavs had the opportunity to guarantee or decline the third year, and will make the decision again prior to his fourth season. Team options usually include looking at a player’s performance and health to determine whether to guarantee a contract further.<\/p>\n
The 2026 NBA Rookie of the Year<\/a> led the Mavs in points, rebounds, assists and steals during his first season out of college. He averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Flagg finished his rookie year as the only player in the\u00a0league to lead his team in all four categories and joined Michael Jordan as the only rookies to do so in league history.\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite Flagg having a season filled with person accolades, the Mavericks finished 12th in the Western Conference<\/a> and missed the playoffs<\/a>.
