Several NBA stars including the Toronto Raptors star Scottie Barnes, Detroit Pistons\u2019 Isaiah Stewart, twin brothers Amen Thompson and Ausar Thompson are among the players who will most likely represent Jamaica in FIBA. These additions would certainly make the team stronger in the international scenario. Moreover, Jamaica\u2019s hopes for their first Summer Olympics qualification will also get a massive boost with these players on their side.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to reports by Daniel Blake of the Jamaica Observer, Thompson brothers have already begun their process of acquiring their Jamaican passports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Jamaican national basketball team are preparing an ELITE SQUAD in the hopes of qualifying for their first Olympics \ud83c\uddef\ud83c\uddf2<\/p>\n

Talks are underway with Scottie Barnes, Isaiah Stewart and Devin Vassell, while Amen and Ausar Thompson have begun their passport process.<\/p>\n

Apart from them, Jamaica is aiming to have Scottie Barnes on board. The 2024 NBA All-Star averaged 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game last season. In addition, the Jamaican team is also in talks with players including Spurs guard Devin Vassell and Piston Center Isaiah Stewart. <\/p>\n

Per reports, the LA Clippers forward Norman Powell will also be featured in Jamaica\u2019s national team.\u00a0The Clippers\u2019 veteran is coming off an impressive season with an average of 21.8 points and 3.2 rebounds on 48.4% shooting from the field and 41.8% from the three-point arc. <\/p>\n

Ausar and Amen Thompson Confirm Participation in Jamaica\u2019s National Team<\/p>\n

Twin NBA stars Ausar and Amen Thompson confirmed their decision to participate in Jamaica\u2019s national team. They spoke during a presentation by the Jamaica Basketball Association and said that they always wanted to wear Jamaica\u2019s basketball jersey.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Amen Thomspon said, \u201cEver since I was a kid, I used to watch the Olympics and see Usain Bolt, [Yohan] Blake. And I always was like, you know, Jamaica always represents gold\u2014 and it\u2019s always been like a dream. I always wanted to see a basketball team. I always wanted to picture basketball players with a Jamaica jersey on. And I\u2019ve always wanted to wear one too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ausar Thompson agreed with what his brother said and expressed his delight in getting the opportunity to represent Jamaica at the quadrennial event. He said, \u201cIt definitely means a lot. It\u2019s something, you know, I would be open to doing a thousand per cent. Just the culture, like he said, gold medal culture since I was a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is to be noted that Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets and Ausar Thompson of the Detroit Pistons are two talented players in the league. While the Rockets\u2019 star finished the recent past season averaging 14.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, his twin, averaged 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.<\/p>\n
