NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – A career that started in North Augusta gold has made it’s way to the professional gridiron.
Former Yellow Jacket Kicker Drew Stevens made his NFL debut in the Washington Commanders 22-24 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Stevens finished the day 1-2 on field goal attempts, drilling a 55 yarder in the 1st quarter.
Stevens also went 1-2 on extra points. His first of the game was blocked by Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter.
Stevens played at North Augusta from 2018 to 2021, where he was named first-team Class 4A all-state kicker by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association his senior year.
He then went on to play at Iowa, becoming the programs all-time leader in total fields goals made and most 50 plus yarders made, as well as tying the record for the longest field goal in Hawkeye history. Stevens nailed a 58 yard bomb vs Oregon in 2025.
Stevens signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent. He beat out Jake Moody for the starting job through training camp.
Washington will look to rebound in week 2. The Commanders head to Dallas to battle the Cowboys September 20th.
