Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. has reportedly found his next NFL landing spot.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Murray is signing with the Houston Texans and joining their practice squad. Murray could fill a key role on Houston’s defense after linebacker Henry To’oTo’o was placed on injured reserve. Murray visited the Texans on Tuesday before making his signing decision.
In joining the Texans, Murray gets a chance to return to the Houston area. He’s a Missouri City native who played high school football at Elkins High School, which is located about 18 miles southwest of the Texans’ Reliant Stadium.
Murray worked out for several teams throughout the offseason, including the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins. Murray manned the middle linebacker role throughout his lone season with the Cowboys in 2025.
Murray hit the free agency market during the 2026 offseason, and Dallas opted to move in a different direction at the linebacker position under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
