The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot of work to do after their season-opening loss against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals came into the season with low expectations and the Chargers were viewed as a massive favorite going into the game, but that wasn’t reflected in the 26-14 loss. With a chance to start 0-2 at home against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, the Chargers are attacking this week with more urgency than before.
The Chargers have been in the postseason in each of the last two seasons under Harbaugh, but they have yet to win a playoff game. They know this year can provide that next step forward, but not if they continue to play how they did on Sunday.
There was a lethargic energy on both ends of the field, which the Cardinals were easily able to take advantage of. The Cardinals went into the game with nothing to lose, and they played just like that.
The Chargers need to zap some of that energy from the Cardinals and apply it to themselves because losing back-to-back games at home at the start of the season to two teams that finished in the top three of the NFL Draft will only set Los Angeles up for failure moving forward.
