Orville Peck just handed the internet a new guessing game.
The singer’s new album Mule dropped Friday, September 18, and on the track “Ring the Bell,” he rattles off his favorite teams — including the Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Mets and the Texas Longhorns — before revealing he’s made out with a player from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Peck, 38, stops there.
However, in an interview with Variety published Thursday, September 17, Peck said he ran the lyric past the man himself before putting it on the record, and the football player was apparently thrilled to be included.
“I told him, ‘Look, I’m gonna keep it sort of ambiguous and mysterious, but I would like to include this in this song,'” the “Dead of Night” singer said. “He was very, very honored.”

Don’t expect a name, though — even if Peck said the secrecy isn’t because his mystery man is hiding anything.
“This person would have probably allowed me to say their name if I wanted, but I didn’t think it was necessary,” Peck explained. “People can use their own common sense and discovery to try to figure out who it may be, but that’s all I’ll say.”
They’ll surely try. One possibility that’s been thrown out is former Raider Carl Nassib.
While Peck doesn’t say if the Raiders player is currently on the roster or when the encounter happened, Nassib, 33, made history when he became the first active NFL player to come out as gay in 2021. However, the Raiders released him in 2022.
When pressed on whether Nassib is the guy in question, the masked country artist wouldn’t confirm it, but he didn’t shoot it down either.
