Although the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t make a big splash in 2026’s free agency, they did a good job of locking up several key players. One of them was defensive end Travon Walker, who’s become a foundational piece in Duval.

Walker is coming off a somewhat underwhelming season in which he only logged 3.5 sacks, but his dearth of production stemmed from a couple of injuries (hand, knee) that held him back. When he was on the field, though, the former Georgia Bulldog had a huge impact, which is why Jacksonville didn’t hesitate to give him a four-year deal worth $110 million in the offseason.

It took Walker only one week to prove he deserved to be paid, registering 1.5 sacks against the Cleveland Browns in the opener. But even when he didn’t make plays, he routinely generated disruption and allowed other Jaguars players to make plays. Expect that to continue in Week 2 when Jacksonville plays the Denver Broncos in Week 2.

With this in mind, here are five predictions for the Broncos game.

Travon Walker registered a career-best three sacks against the Indianapolis Colts in 2024. He’ll record his second 3-sack game against Denver in Week 2. The Thomaston, Georgia native will often line up against right tackle Mike McGlinchey and right guard Quinn Meinerz.

Both Meinerz and McGlinchey are capable offensive linemen, but Walker should be able to beat them both enough times to bring Bo Nix down three times in Week 2. Josh Hines-Allen will also record a sack, and Arik Armstead will get the other one.

The Jaguars will keep J.K. Dobbins under 40 yards rushing

The Jaguars had the best defense against the run last year, and that probably won’t change in 2026. Already, they kept the Cleveland Browns under 90 yards rushing in the opener and should be able to do the same against J.K. Dobbins and the Denver running game.

Heck, expect the Jacksonville defense to step up and keep Dobbins under 40 yards despite the fact that he’s averaged 5.0 yards per carry during his stint with the Broncos.

Brian Thomas Jr. will score 2 TDs for the Jaguars in Week 2

While Parker Washington stole the spotlight against the Browns, fellow receiver Brian Thomas Jr. low-key had a solid game, hauling in three catches for 40 yards. Last year, the Broncos made an effort to contain BTJ, which gave Washington several favorable matchups.

With Washington becoming the Jags’ No. 1 receiver, expect Denver to zero in on him this time around. That will leave Thomas with several favorable matchups, which, in turn, will help him score not one but two receiving touchdowns in Week 2.

Travis Hunter will keep Jaylen Waddle under 30 yards (and pick off Bo Nix)

The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle in the offseason to turbocharge Bo Nix’s arsenal of weapons. However, he had a less-than-stellar debut with Denver, registering just one reception for two yards on three targets.

Waddle won’t have much success against Jacksonville either. He will struggle to get open when Travis Hunter shadows him. His statline will be a bit better than the opener, but not by much. But aside from erasing Waddle, Hunter will pick off Bo Nix, which will dissuade him from throwing to his side of the field.

The Jaguars will register a total of 3 interceptions vs. the Browns

Bo Nix is coming off a disappointing showing against the Kansas City Chiefs. While he’s shown notable improvement the past two years, he hasn’t shown that he can truly elevate his game against the top defenses in the NFL.

By neutralizing J.K. Dobbins, the Jaguars will force Bo Nix to beat them. Jacksonville has enough talent at all three levels of the defense to contain him.

And without a running game to take some pressure off his shoulders, he’ll ultimately throw three picks, including the Travis Hunter one.
