The Seattle Seahawks (1-0) and Arizona Cardinals (1-0) came away with Week 1 wins against AFC opposition to start the 2026 season. Now these NFC West foes will begin their division slate in Glendale, with the home team riding high off an unexpected victory.
It was a successful start for Mike LaFleur as Cardinals head coach, leading Arizona to a 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Inglewood. The Seahawks are hoping that their season will end with Super Bowl 61 in Inglewood, and the reigning champs overcame injury to Sam Darnold to win 13-10 over the New England Patriots. They will not have Darnold for this Cardinals game, and they will also be without safety Ty Okada and guard Anthony Bradford. It’s TBD on defensive back Nick Emmanwori, but limited practices all week indicate he won’t be available. Drew Lock will run the Seahawks offense in his first start for the team since 2023, and the good news is he’ll have wide receiver Tory Horton back from his hamstring injury.
The Seahawks defense locked down Drake Maye and the Patriots offense when it mattered most in Week 1, and now they’ll be tasked with slowing down Jacoby Brissett and his top target, tight end Trey McBride. This will also be a fascinating matchup of running backs, as Seattle’s Jadarian Price and Arizona’s Jeremiyah Love will feature in a battle of Notre Dame rookies. The former teammates will be foes on Sunday, and the Seahawks run defense has been almost impenetrable for almost two years.
