Bears Slay the Dragon in Improbable Wild Card VictoryCaleb Williams Injury Update: Could He Miss 6 to 8 Weeks?

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a frightening non-contact injury Sunday afternoon during Chicago’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Williams was scrambling toward the end zone in the fourth quarter when his right leg appeared to give way. The quarterback immediately went to the ground in pain and grabbed at his right leg. He was unable to put weight on it and was eventually helped off the field before being carted to the locker room.

The Bears later identified the injury as a right hamstring injury, but the severity remains unknown. Williams is scheduled for further testing Monday, and head coach Ben Johnson said the team will know more after those examinations.

Dr. Jesse Morse of The Injury Expertz provided an early breakdown of the injury, and his assessment has Bears fans understandably concerned.

Morse believes the injury could represent a Grade 2 hamstring strain, which would involve a partial tear. However, he also noted that a more serious Grade 3 tear remains possible.
