Louisville clinched the Nashville Regional with a 6-0 shutout win of Wright State Sunday evening, thanks to freshman Ethan Eberle’s 11 strikeouts over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. Miami upset No. 16 Southern Mississippi 5-4 late Monday night to clinch the Hattiesburg Regional.
The teams did not meet in the regular season. Louisville is 11-12 all-time against Miami; their last meeting was May 21, 2024, in the ACC Championships, an 8-5 Hurricanes win.
This is Louisville’s 10th Super Regional appearance and seventh time hosting, all of which have come under head coach Dan McDonnell, who is in his 19th season at the helm. The team is 10-10 all-time in Super Regional appearances, including 9-5 at home. Its last came in 2022, when they were swept in two games by Texas A&M.
The Cardinals are led by the likes of junior infielder Jake Munroe, senior outfielder Eddie King Jr. and freshman first baseman Tague Davis on offense. Junior Wyatt Danilowicz and freshman Jake Schweitzer highlight the pitching staff.
Should the Cardinals clinch the trip to Omaha, it’d be their sixth College World Series appearance.
