The 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs have one big unresolved question this season.

Will left tackle Josh Simmons play?

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday that Simmons is participating in team activities and working toward a return.

However, the team is still waiting to see how his back responds.

“He’s doing everything. He is working his tail off,” Reid said. “We knew it’d be a couple, two, three, four games in here, as long as he was making progress.”

Simmons has missed the Chiefs’ first two games of the season.

Reid said Simmons is now in a “flex area” as the team monitors whether the swelling has gone down.

“We’ll just see where he’s at,” Reid said. “He’s kind of in that flex area there to see exactly if that thing has calmed down and some of the swelling has gone down. But we’ll see.”
