Courtland Sutton has not gotten off to a good start this season, and you wonder if the stalled contract talks had anything to do with him not doing much out of the gate. Yes, it’s only been two games, but you don’t pay a WR $23 million dollars just to only get 36 yards out of him. There really is no masking Sutton’s early season struggles after the kind of game Jaylen Waddle had against Jacksonville.

There’s some that are clamoring that Pat Bryant could look to be Court’s eventual “heir”, but there’s a problem. Pat went from recording 42 yards against the Chiefs to 0 against the Jaguars. That does not bode well for the Broncos if he can’t be consistent in terms of producing on offense.

CS is about to turn 31 soon. He’s been a longtime Bronco through and through, but you start to fear if he’s starting to show any signs of slowing down at his age. If the struggles continue to follow him week by week, this is the part Denver should look to consider looking for a WR in the early rounds of 2027’s draft.

A few names do come to mind for the Broncos. Let’s run them down and see who could they look to add:

Indiana’s Charlie Becker

Nicknamed “Charlie B” by Joel Klatt, Becker came up big last season with huge catches in the Big 10 Championship against OSU (6 catches, 126 yards) and had critical catches in Indiana’s CFP run. This year, he’s off to an okay start. Not quite flashy as one hoped, especially given how much talent they lost offensively in last year’s draft (including WRs Omar Cooper Jr. and Elijah Sarratt). I was a little worried the Hoosiers weren’t quite gonna look all that great offensively considering the dropoff between Fernando Mendoza to Josh Hoover (former TCU quarterback), but Charlie seems to have picked up where he left off last season. Just recently, had an impressive showing against WKU. 5 catches, 127 yards and a score. And this was coming off his 3 TD performance against Howard. Assuming he has one of those “breakout” seasons with the Hoosiers (where he racks up 1,000+ yards this season), is there a chance he declares for the 2027 NFL Draft?

Rutgers’ KJ Duff

A guy who is off to a blazing start this season that MHR didn’t pay all that much attention too was KJ Duff. He’s no stranger to some, as Christopher Hart already recapped on Duff in his article 2 days ago titled “Future Broncos: 3 Prospects to Watch in Week 3 of NCAA Football Season”. Coming off of a 60 catch, 1,084 yard, 7 TD sophomore season, KJ seems to have picked up where he left off entering this season. The 6’6″ junior from New York has 24 catches, 419 yards, and 6 TDs already this season. At his current pace, he could likely find himself recording another 1,000 yard season…and that is in spite of the questionable (and inconsistent) QB play at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are 0-3 so far this season, and if things do continue to trend downward over at “The Birthplace of College Football”, there’s a high chance he declares for the 2027 draft early and foregoes his senior season. Could you imagine if the Broncos get this guy having Nix throwing the ball to (as opposed to what Rutgers had at QB)?

The million dollar question one has to wonder, if they do get him in 2027’s draft, is the fit. NFL Draft Buzz has this about him in terms of where he fits offensively:

“He fits a play-action offense that wants a big-bodied X on the boundary and a red-zone target who wins with size on third down.”

Does this qualify to what the Broncos identity is on offense?

Florida State’s Duce Robinson

So another guy nobody is paying much attention to…is Duce Robinson. He originally was with USC for 2 years, but didn’t feel like his role was realized. After back-to-back 300+ yard seasons with Lincoln Riley, he took his talents elsewhere to Tallahassee, and he thrived much better at FSU. In the 2025 season, Duce finished his junior year with 56 catches, 1,081 yards, and 6 TDs…and that was with an inconsistent Florida State team that finished 2-6 in ACC play (despite their 5-7 record). Robinson had an impressive showing against Alabama despite the loss, where he finished with 6 catches, 135 yards, and a TD. This year, a bit clunky, as he has 11 catches, 210 yards, and a TD. FSU is trying to find its identity and figuring out their QB situation on whether or not Ashton Daniels looks to be “the guy” for them after Tommy Castellanos transferred over to Texas Tech.

Just like with KJ Duff, the question is if he fits to what the Broncos run on offense. Per NFL Draft Buzz:

“The fit is a possession role in a timing-and-rhythm passing game, where his size becomes a weekly mismatch on third down and inside the 20. He needs a quarterback willing to trust him in traffic, because that is where he makes his living.”

Two questions one has to ask themselves if they consider Duce Robinson.

Does Nix fit that mold into who Duce needs throwing the ball to on offense?

Is this the kind of offense that fits to what he can thrive in?
