The Baltimore Ravens shot out of the gate in the race to claim the AFC North title, looking like clear favorites in the division. But after a devastating Week 2 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore’s outlook isn’t quite as rosy.

Jesse Minter’s squad has fallen out of first place in the division, ceding the spot to the Cincinnati Bengals, who posted a convincing win over the Houston Texans.

Through two weeks of regular-season play, here’s how things stand in the AFC North.

The Bengals are looking dangerous after their Week 2 win over the Texans. With Dexter Lawrence II at its center, their defense has become competent for the first time in years. Joe Burrow and the offense haven’t quite hit their stride yet, but they’re capable of outscoring any team in the league.

There won’t be much margin for error in the AFC North this year. If the Bengals continue their early-season form, the Ravens are going to have an uphill climb ahead of them in their quest to reclaim the division title.

2. Baltimore Ravens

New regime, same story. In typical fashion, the Ravens blew a fourth-quarter lead against the Saints, losing by a touchdown after scoring just three points in the second half. The frustrating trend is the only thing holding Baltimore back from a 2-0 start and the top spot in our rankings.

Jesse Minter’s defense is living up to expectations so far, and the offense’s rushing attack looks solid enough to be the engine of a winning team. But until the Ravens can put games away in the fourth quarter, their ceiling will always be limited.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

It looks like we were right to be skeptical after the Steelers’ Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons look like one of the worst teams in the NFL through two weeks, while the Steelers failed to get anything going in their loss to the Patriots.

Pittsburgh’s offense currently ranks 31st in EPA per play, 32nd in success rate, and 32nd in yards per pass attempt. It’s still early in the season, but the decision to bring in Mike McCarthy and run it back with Aaron Rodgers is already looking like a mistake.

4. Cleveland Browns

We wouldn’t quite call the Browns’ win over the Buccaneers a fluke, but it wasn’t exactly a straightforward game. A two-hour weather delay due to a torrential downpour may have muddied things a bit, but Cleveland still managed to wak away with its first win of the season.

Still, a team quarterbacked by Deshaun Watson can’t realistically move much higher in these rankings. The Browns are just too limited on offense to warrant much trust at this point in the season. If they move out of the final spot in these rankings, it will be because of a complete collapse from the Steelers, which may not be too far off.
