The Seattle Seahawks hosted an OTA practice that was open to local media on Monday afternoon. One of the bigger takeaways was the presence and form of rookie safety Nick Emmanwori. Emmanwori is already making a huge impact at Seahawks practice.

Emmanwori earned plenty of reps with Mike Macdonald’s first-team defense, according to multiple reports. Macdonald is already using his rookie defensive playmaker in various roles and positions. Emmanwori reportedly played “BIG” nickel, box safety/linebacker, and other spots.

Emmanwori looks “locked in,” according to defensive coordinator Aden Durde.

The Seahawks moved up 17 spots during the 2025 NFL draft, parting with a third-rounder in the process, to land Emmanwori at No. 35 overall. Unsurprisingly, Emmanwori is making an immediate impact at practice. Coach Macdonald and Durde had a vision for his role in their defense.

Coach Macdonald was a fan of three-safety sets in his defense last season. The Seahawks released veteran safety Rayshawn Jenkins earlier this offseason. The expectation is that Emmanwori will support starters Coby Bryant and Julian Love. Emmanwori should also have a designated role in nickel and dime defensive packages.

The Seahawks were smitten with Emmanwori throughout the pre-draft process. The early returns at OTAs indicate their gamble will pay off.
