The outlook for the Green Bay Packers’ 2026 home opener is a lot different after the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
“Packer fans are second to none. You definitely feed off that,” former Packers defensive back Jarrett Bush said in a FOX 11 One on One interview with FOX 11 Sports Director Ryan Wing.
Bush said the Packers will be looking to protect their house playing against a “wounded duck” Atlanta Falcons team.
The Packers are coming off a come-from-behind win over the New York Jets. Bush said it was good the Packers found a way to win, but found fault with the number of penalties.
“It’s not something that you can continue do week-in, week-out,” he said. “Those are something that are going to be detrimental to your success as a football team, and they will hurt you, especially into the later season, going into the playoffs, and I think it’s something that needs to be corrected.”
Bush also gave his analysis of the Packers’ defense in the first two games under defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
“From a pressure standpoint, I like what he’s doing, especially with the personnel, having Edgerrin Cooper and Lukas Van Ness off the edges,” Bush said. “I like the safety blitzes, personally, because I think it adds a dynamic that you don’t see too often, and it gives them the chance to make a play.”
Turning his attention to the offense, Bush said the Packers are missing their running game with the suspension of running back Josh Jacobs.
“I think (quarterback) Jordan Love is a distributor. I don’t think he’s the guy that’s going to close it out,” Bush said. “I think Josh Jacobs and the running game is going to be that level of toughness that an offense brings, and I think we’re lacking that right now because of his absence.”
Bush also had some advice for Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and the offensive staff to help Love reach his full potential.
