Lil Wayne’s suggestion for the Green Bay Packers drew sharp criticism after their 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, Sept. 24.
The Packers fell to 1-2 when Atlanta dominated both sides of the ball at Lambeau Field. Green Bay also saw its 13-game home-opening winning streak end with the NFL Week 3 loss.

Following the defeat, Lil Wayne, a rapper and avowed Packers fan, posted a short message about Miami Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah.
“Mensah would look great in green n yellow,” Lil Wayne wrote on X.
The comment appeared to suggest Mensah as a potential draft option for Green Bay. However, fans quickly pointed out a major issue with that idea.
Quincy Avery, a private NFL quarterback coach, responded bluntly to the post.
“This how dumb fans are,” Avery wrote.
Another fan highlighted Green Bay’s draft situation. “Dude has no idea they don’t have a first round pick,” the user wrote.
That point became a central part of the reaction because the Packers do not hold a first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Meanwhile, Mensah has emerged as a prominent college quarterback during the 2026 season. The Miami quarterback has already entered early conversations surrounding the 2027 NFL Draft.

A fan mocked the idea while referencing another potential quarterback prospect.
“Packers getting Jeremiah [Smith] and Mensah with their imaginary first round pick,” the user wrote.
A separate user also criticized Lil Wayne’s football analysis.
“I gotta remember Wayne just a casual with a large platform,” the fan wrote. “He got a few slick tweets about Love because his POV is flawed from having Rodgers.”
Meanwhile, another fan reacted, posting, “Hate to be the one to break it to Lil Wayne but you dont got a first round pick next season 🤷♂️.”
Green Bay’s immediate problems extend beyond its future quarterback plans. The Packers managed only 17 rushing yards against Atlanta while allowing 242 yards on the ground.
Jordan Love threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, but Atlanta consistently disrupted the offense. The Falcons scored 27 consecutive points after Green Bay opened with a touchdown.

So, the Packers need answers along the offensive line and in the running game. Their current struggles make future quarterback speculation secondary.
Lil Wayne’s post created discussion, but Green Bay’s draft assets and roster needs make such a move close to impossible. The Packers first need to stabilize their current offense.
