Skip Bayless delivered a brutal assessment of the Green Bay Packers after their 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, accusing the team of looking “inept”, “incompetent” and “pathetic”.

The Packers fell to 1-2 after being beaten at home by an Atlanta side that entered the game 0-2, leaving Green Bay in last place in the NFC North.

Bayless made his comments during a Friday appearance on ESPN’s First Take, where the Packers’ poor start quickly became the focus of the discussion.

Skip Bayless tears into Packers after ugly home defeat

“You look inept. You look incompetent. You look pathetic,” Bayless said. “You looked hopeless and hapless at home. That’s what happened.”

He then went even further, arguing that Green Bay could currently be playing the worst football in the NFL.

“And I can make the case … they are playing the worst in pro football right now. Over three games, I can say playing the worst.”

The Packers have struggled in several areas during the opening three weeks. They are averaging 18.7 points per game while allowing 30.3, and their running game ranks last in the NFL at 48.7 rushing yards per game.

Green Bay managed just 17 rushing yards against Atlanta, while Falcons running back Bijan Robinson ran for 194 yards as Atlanta finished with 242 rushing yards.

Quarterback Jordan Love completed 28 of 53 passes for 312 yards against the Falcons, with much of that production coming after the game had effectively slipped away.

The defeat also ended Green Bay’s 13-game winning streak in home openers and marked its first loss in a home opener since 2013. Packers fans booed the team off the field, adding to the frustration surrounding the start.

Bayless also pointed to the Packers’ recent run of results, with Green Bay having lost seven of its last eight games dating back to last season.

There is now over a 7-day gap before the Packers travel to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 4. That gives Matt LaFleur and his team some time to regroup, but the next performance will have to look very different if they want to quiet the growing criticism.
