The Chargers’ disappointing start to the season has some wondering whether something inconceivable a few months ago could become reality: Could Justin Herbert get traded?
Despite Herbert looking mediocre to this point in the season, the immense value that talented quarterbacks have in the league would mean Los Angeles would likely net a huge haul in return for him.

Not that the Chargers will find out. NFL insider Tom Pelissero made this clear when writing, “The Chargers have no plans anytime soon to trade quarterback Justin Herbert” in an article that was published to his Substack on Saturday morning.
Pelissero added that Herbert has a no-trade clause that means he could turn down any potential deal if Los Angeles wanted to trade him.

All it will take is one great game from Herbert and a resounding Chargers win against the Bills on Sunday to shut down any criticism surrounding the franchise.
But a loss will intensify chatter, especially if Herbert looks lackluster while leading Los Angeles’ offense again.
Coach Jim Harbaugh is already on the hot seat, as is offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. If Los Angeles can’t right the ship in the coming weeks, changes could be on the way — even if that doesn’t mean trading Herbert.
