If the 2027 NFL Draft were to occur today, the New York Jets would have three Top-10 picks. Thanks to Green Bay and Indianapolis, New York is in prime position to add more talent next year.Â

The New York Jets are 1-2 through three weeks of the 2026 NFL season, and there’s no avoiding that. But there is a silver lining worth paying attention to. The Jets are currently slated to have three top-10 picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, and the early returns on the teams attached to those picks suggest New York could be in line for a massive haul.
The Jets own their own first-round selection, obviously. They also hold a first-round pick from the Indianapolis Colts via the Sauce Gardner trade and another from the Green Bay Packers, tied to the Quinnen Williams trade to Dallas. Both the Packers and Colts sit at 1-2 right now. Green Bay would hold the 6th pick and Indianapolis the 8th. Both of those belong to the Jets, giving them three top-10 selections.
Look, I know it’s early. There is a lot of season left to play. But neither of these teams inspires much confidence right now.
Green Bay’s lone win came against the Jets in a game the Packers really shouldn’t have won. Indianapolis’ lone win came against the Houston Texans, who are currently 0-3. There is not much hope for either team, and the Jets should be in a strong position when next year’s draft rolls around.
This matters because New York is coming off a 2026 draft cycle where it already had three first-round picks. The Jets used those on edge rusher David Bailey, wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., and tight end Kenyon Sadiq, all of whom seem to be good grabs so far. Cooper Jr. could still be considered a question mark after suffering an injury early in the Week 1 game against the Titans, but the talent is clearly there across the board.
And look, even if the Packers and Colts turn things around, the Jets still will have three first-round picks regardless. They’re in a great spot.Â
The Jets have played better than 1-2
I think the most important thing to understand about the Jets right now is that their record doesn’t tell the full story. They dominated the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. They let one slip away to the Packers in Week 2. And yesterday, in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions, they went into one of the toughest places in the league to play. They went up against a high-powered offense, laid it all on the line, and just came up short.
The season is not over for the Jets. They still have plenty to play for, and if they can get a few things to turn their way, they could start winning some of these games. Don’t get me wrong, 1-2 is 1-2, and this team needs to start closing out games. But the effort and the competitiveness have been there, which you can’t say about most Jets seasons in recent memory.Â
Looking ahead
I know it can be hard to look ahead this early in an NFL season. But the Jets are in a position to add three more talented football players to their roster next year, and that’s a big deal. Between the young pieces already on the roster from this year’s draft and the draft capital stacking up for 2027, the Jets are quietly setting themselves up. If the Packers and Colts keep struggling, the Jets could be looking at one of the most loaded NFL draft hauls in recent memory for any franchise.
New York should be in a good position for next year. And for a team sitting at 1-2 right now, that matters more than most people realize. The turnaround is set up in a prime position.Â

New York fell to 1-2 after a competitive showing in Detroit, and the pass catchers delivered while the run game and defense let the team down. There were more good signs but yet again it was not enough.
