The last thing I want to do is hang my head over this game all week, and let’s be honest, all the Cowboys did was find a new way to lose a game that they should have won.
Still, the reality is they are sitting at 1-2, just like the Rams, Patriots, and a handful of other teams, but you won’t see the same type of noise around them like you will with the Dallas Cowboys, and that is fine, but keep the same energy. This league finds a way to humble you.
I want to be the first to tell you that the Cowboys in these next two games can go from 1-2 to 3-2 regardless of what you think. The next two teams they play, the Texans and the Buccaneers, are not good right now, and regardless of the Cowboys’ HORRIBLE defense, they can beat both.
Whether they will win both of those games is to be determined. Still, let’s dive into what changes need to be made as they head into those games, and look, I am clearly not a coach.

Coaching Matters
We see it every single week, coaching matters in this league and the Cowboys might have the wrong guys running this thing, and playing not to lose instead of trying to win is the reason why so many teams end up on the wrong side in this league!
I am going to reiterate this from my post yesterday: Why the heck are you calling a timeout Brian Schottenheimer?
The Ravens should never have even gotten a chance to TOUCH the football again to make that pass and set up a game-winning field goal.
On the 2nd-and-goal play where Dak Prescott stepped up and ran for two yards or so, Brian Schottenheimer decided it would be a good idea to take a timeout with 14 seconds left, which resulted in the next play being that incompletion with no timeouts left that gave the Ravens that time after they tied the game.
Let me take this one step further. On the first drive of the game, the run down the throat of the Ravens defense, and they got inside the 5, and they threw it three straight times. I don’t understand what Schotty is doing.
He has to be better, and this was a major issue with Mike McCarthy. Also, he struggled time and time again with clock management.
Oh, or how about the fact that you KICKED the ball out of the end zone and allowed the Ravens to run a play in the first place? You have the best kicker on the planet, make them return the ball and run nearly every second off the clock and they didn’t.
Offense & Defense
Look, the defense has a million injuries in the secondary, but the defensive line still has the starting unit from week one out there, and they can’t create any SACKS. They have two on the year, and one of them is from Caleb Downs. You can’t continue to let the worst unit on the team try and cover without being able to get the QB to the ground.
I don’t know how they make the changes there, but at this point, maybe just starting blitzing more and trying to speed up the opposing quarterback. I don’t know.
On the flip side, true things can be true. They HAVE to score a touchdown down there, but not running the ball once is annoying. But again, they are the only team in this league that has to score 35 every single week to have a chance. Both of these are true.
It is mind-blowing to me that we expect the offense to have to be nearly flawless, and scoring 31 points is not enough because the Ravens had one play for 30-plus yards in seven seconds to kick the game-winning field goal.
It is easy to point the finger at someone you don’t like as a fan, but let’s keep this straight, this football game was lost on EVERY level, and you know it just like I do.

The season is either going to be over, or sitting at 3-2 with how weird the NFC currently is sitting just fine. The Rams are 1-2 and everyone picked them to win the SB, we have a long way to go, but the season is either over or will be prolonged by these next two games.
