Ravens center Jovaughn Gwyn to miss several months with broken fibula

The Ravens depth will be tested, as center Jovaughn Gwyn will be out for months after suffering a broken leg in Sunday’s win over the Cowboys in Rio.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Gwyn’s injury is expected to require surgery and could put him out for two to three months. Gwyn won the starting center job after a training camp competition and started the first three games before suffering the injury Sunday.
He and backup center Ethan Pocic were injured, with Pocic’s injury expected to be serious as well. The Ravens have now lost all three centers they had in the training camp competition after Danny Pinter suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason.
“I don’t have the full details, but they both looked like they will be a little bit (of a) long-term type of thing. I do think for this particular game — as we sort through making our roster better, obviously, over the next couple of days — (Vega Ioane) will be prepared, and he will prepare to potentially play that position,” Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said.
For this week, the Ravens will turn to first-round pick Vega Ioane, who filled in at center when Gwyn and Pocic went down. Ioane only played eight plays at center Sunday but did not have any issues with his deliveries. He had limited experience at center at Penn State, filling in during a game in 2023.
The Ravens hosted three players Tuesday, including centers Graham Glasgow and Kingsley Eguakun, along with guard Kyle Hergel. Glasgow is a veteran center with 136 career starts at center during his 10-year career and started 14 games for the Detroit Lions last year.
