Well, this sucks. I expected David Montgomery to be Houston’s workhorse back this season, and over the last two weeks that hasn’t happened. Since Week 2, Montgomery has had a 57.8% snap rate with 43.6% of the rushing attempts, a 44.1% route share, and a 4.8% target share. In these two games, he has averaged 10.5 touches and 36 total yards. This is barely flex-worthy volume behind a horrid offensive line. Montgomery hasn’t been efficient with his workload so far, though. He has only a 3% explosive run rate, 1.57 yards after contact per attempt, and a 14% missed tackle rate. None of that is good. At all. Montgomery has another nice matchup this week, but he wasn’t able to do anything with last week’s solid matchup, so I don’t know if he’ll be able to take advantage this week. Dallas has allowed the third-highest explosive run rate, the seventh-highest rushing success rate, and the eighth-most yards before contact per attempt.
