Justin Herbert and Sam Darnold each combined to make unwanted history on Sunday.

The quarterbacks threw picks on back-to-back plays to begin the Los Angeles Chargers vs. Seattle Seahawks game at Lumen Field.

It’s the first time since at least 1991 that that has happened on the first two plays from scrimmage.

Herbert’s pick came first on a play-action fake. The signal caller perplexingly threw into traffic, where Drake Thomas was there to punish the mistake.

Then came Darnold’s turn.

Also from a play-action fake, Darnold tried to find his checkdown option Emanuel Wilson, but misplaced it into the hands of Tuli Tuipulotu.

Seattle is looking to go 3-1 in its bid to repeat as Super Bowl champions, while the Chargers are hoping to avoid a disastrous 0-4 start. Their upcoming schedule doesn’t get any easier.
