Hey injury Gods… WHAT DO YOU WANT! HOW MANY MORE SACRIFICES DO YOU NEED?!
On Monday, October 5, the Jets lost pass rusher Braiden McGregor for the season with a torn pec. He isn’t a name most casual NFL fans will know, but he was part of the Jets’ pass-rushing rotation.
Right before the Chicago Bears game, Kingsley Enagbare was ruled out with a knee injury. You lose McGregor. Now you’re left with David Bailey, Will McDonald, and Joseph Ossai. Yikes.
The Jets needed reinforcements on their defensive line BEFORE McGregor got hurt. Now? God help us all.
The most obvious move for the Jets is to release the Kraken. Nate Lynn has been patiently biding his time on the practice squad. The Jets should place McGregor on IR and replace him on the 53-man roster with Lynn, but they shouldn’t stop there.
General manager Darren Mougey should immediately get to work sifting through the available options in free agency, other teams’ practice squads, and heck, even the trade market to see what’s out there.
