The Green Bay Packers worked out four players on Tuesday, and there have been no reports that the team has signed these players — at least yet. Currently, the Packers’ 53-man roster and practice squad are filled, after the team moved linebacker Kristian Welch up to the 53-man roster and signed back running back Damon Bankston to the practice squad today.
Green Bay brought in two off-ball linebackers and two cornerbacks on Tuesday: linebackers Deion Jones and Chris Paul and cornerbacks Cobee Bryant and Dwight McGlothern.
Jones is a Will linebacker, the same position as Edgerrin Cooper — now out for the year with an Achilles rupture. Jones began his NFL career as a second-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons, where his time overlapped with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur — then the quarterbacks coach of the team.
The LSU product was able to earn a Pro Bowl selection in his second season in the league, but he hasn’t been a full-time starting linebacker since the 2021 season. Since then, he’s bounced around with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, where he’s made eight starts over the last five years.
This offseason, he was originally retained by the Buccaneers, who signed him to a reserve-futures deal after finishing the 2025 season on their practice squad, before being released and later signed by the Saints. After about two weeks in New Orleans, he was traded to the 49ers for running back Zamir White. Both players were cut at the roster deadline, and White was re-signed to San Francisco’s practice squad while Jones was not signed.
Significantly younger than the 31-year-old (soon-to-be 32-year-old) Jones is Paul, who is a 23-year-old former fifth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams. Paul was scooped up by the Seattle Seahawks after the cutdown deadline in 2025, but he was waived with an injury settlement at the 2026 cutdown deadline. Paul has yet to play an NFL snap.
McGlothern signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent and spent three camps with the team before he was waived with an injury designation around the cutdown deadline this August. He’s played in 15 NFL games, totaling 50 defensive snaps and 37 special teams snaps, but hasn’t ever made a start in the league.

With a full practice squad, Green Bay would need to make a corresponding roster move to add any of the four players they brought in on tryouts today.
