GREEN BAY (WLUK) — The Packers are 2-2 on the season, tied for last in the division with the Lions. The injury bug has plagued Green Bay thus far but there were improvements after its win in Tampa Bay.
Against the Bucs, the Packers had a Pass Block Win Rate of 53 percent, by far the best of the season according to ESPN analytics. Through Week four, while the Packers rank dead last in the league at 22 percent, that’s up from 16 percent through three weeks.
Now addition of Laken Tomlinson starting at Left Guard certainly could’ve helped, considering he helped lead a 27-yard run from Chris Brooks, something the team hasn’t had much success at, running the football. On top of that, Green Bay started Travis Glover at right guard.
According to Pro Football Focus, Green Bay allowed just five pressures, three by Left Tackle Jordan Morgan while Center Sean Rhyan and Glover both had allowed one pressure. Love was hit only twice and was not sacked.
Now, it’s encouraging the offensive line might be coming along, but Jordan Love still needs to be protected more and given more time to throw:
One thing that’s been a constant problem on the offense that could be overlooked, the fumbles, and dropped passes. The Packers have 12 dropped passes. Tucker Kraft has five of them.
In some major categories, the Packers rank towards the bottom of the league:
Points Per Game (18.3) – 28thOpponent Points Per Game (26.3) – 23rdRush YDS P/G (58) – 32nd
Through four weeks, the Packers are in the middle of the pack in terms of sacks with eight. The 49ers have allowed zero, the Buccaneers have allowed 16:
Something else to note as the Packers face the Bears on Sunday, Chicago has one of the best running back duos and rush offense in the league. Green Bay ranks in the Top 10 of the NFL in run block win rate at 74 percent.
Special Teams pickup Skyy Moore has lived up to the expectations of improving that department of the organization. He ranks in the top 10 in these categories:
What’s quite impressive is Love shows out against the Bears in his career:
Kick-off is set for 12:00 p.m. on Fox.
