After the bye week, the initial SEC-mandated injury report for Saturday’s matchup between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl was released on Wednesday evening.
For Texas, senior running back Hollywood Smothers remains off the injury report after sitting out against Tennessee with a lower-leg injury. Head coach Steve Sarkisian described the NC State transfer as an emergency option during that game.
Also off the injury report is junior nickel back Xavier Filsaime, who hasn’t played yet this season with an undisclosed injury.
Still on the injury report after reportedly practicing last week is sophomore tight end Nick Townsend, who hasn’t played since suffering a bone bruise in his knee against Ohio State, but is now listed as probable.
Less promising is the news with sophomore defensive lineman Justus Terry. The Georgia product sustained a toe injury warming up before the win over the Buckeyes, hasn’t played since, and is listed as doubtful along with sophomore wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, a new addition to the injury report.
Remaining out is sophomore offensive lineman Jordan Coleman, who also missed the win over Tennessee in Knoxville.
The report confirms head coach Steve Sarkisian’s assertion that the Horns are healthier after the bye week than they were heading into it.
Oklahoma is a different story with four players listed as out, including transfer wide receiver Trell Harris, three players listed as doubtful, including left tackle Michael Fasusi, out since Week 1, five players listed as questionable, including guard Eddy Pierre-Louis, and one player listed as probable, linebacker Owen Heinecke.
