After five games this season, the Cowboys defense hasn’t shown much improvement from last year, when it was one of the worst in the NFL.

The unit is playing subpar at all three levels, but the secondary has been hit hardest with injuries. On his latest appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), Jones addressed Joey Porter Jr.’s illness and DaRon Bland’s showing at corner against Tampa Bay. Jones also talked about the now viral moment between Dak Prescott and a heckler in the tunnel postgame.

See what Jones told The Fan below.

Q: With [DaRon Bland] maybe not having the success he’s accustomed to outside, has there been any consideration to moving him back in the slot, where he’s had success previously?

Stephen Jones: “I think we just got to continue to to stick with where we’re headed. Certainly, it was disappointing after we were thinking Joey was coming fast and going to get 50, 60 snaps, and to go out there with Bland. But unfortunately, we have had that bug going around a little bit, and he wasn’t able to play. I think we have a plan. I don’t question anybody who questions what it is because certainly we’re not getting the job done right now.

“We are what we are. We’re 2-3, and we’ve got to go back to doing what we do on offense, which is typically we’re going to move the ball well and score a lot of points, and then we’ve got to continue to look for the right answer, the right formula on the defensive side of the ball, and hopefully getting some guys back, get them healthy.”

Q: Did you guys catch wind of this this I guess employee who was heckling Dak on his way to the locker room?

Jones: “I don’t necessarily think it was one of our employees. I think it may have been a driver. We’re still looking into it. I don’t have the final answer for you, but I think it was, you know, we have a lot of suite holders that have drivers down in that area, and we’re not so sure that it was a an employee of ours.”
