The 2-2 Los Angeles Rams and 3-1 Buffalo Bills wrap up the Week 5 slate on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium, with the Horns in need of a win to get their heads above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Saturday’s final injury report brought good news and a sense of clarity: only safety Quentin Lake remains questionable, and head coach Sean McVay said Lake was making progress in his recovery. Defensive lineman Aaron Donald, cornerback Jaylen Watson, and tight end Colby Parkinson are all back in action after missing Week 4.

For the Bills, receiver Josh Palmer and defensive tackle Ed Oliver have been ruled out. Rookie wideout Sky Bell, a one-time potential Rams draft prospect, will be active for the first time this season. WR1 DJ Moore is also questionable, alongside defensive end Landon Jackson and cornerback Dee Alford.

With the injury preamble out of the way, let’s get into some key matchups and a score prediction.

Noteworthy matchups in Rams-Bills MNF showdown Rams pass rush vs. Bills QB Josh Allen

This group got to finishing plays last week against the Eagles, racking up more sacks (four) than they had all season. Edge rusher Byron Young has half the team’s sack total and nearly double the pressures (21) of the rest of the Rams’ edge-rushing rotation (11). His speed and agility will be critical in keeping Allen from feeling comfortable in the pocket and scrambling for first downs all day.

Matthew Stafford vs. Bills pass defense

The Bills have one of the most gettable pass defenses in the league, ranking 30th in yards allowed per game and 26th in EPA per play. Outside linebacker Greg Rousseau is a menace in the pass rush, but he doesn’t have much help. The secondary is vulnerable and now Ford, a starting corner, is banged up.

Stafford is off to a shaky start and threw two picks before leading the Rams’ fourth-quarter comeback in Philadelphia. In four games, he has nearly matched his interception total all last year, with six already versus eight in his MVP campaign. Perhaps he can avoid mistakes (Buffalo only has two INTs thus far) and take advantage of the Bills’ exploitable backend.

Rams linebackers vs. Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid

Kincaid had a monster first two games but cooled dramatically over the next two. Even so, he leads the Bills with 270 receiving yards and could be an even bigger factor if Moore can’t go.

With the Rams’ DBs busy covering Buffalo’s wideouts – still a decent group even without Palmer or Moore, featuring Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir – linebackers Nate Landman and Omar Speights could find themselves matched up with Kincaid.

As Kincaid has gone so has the Bills offense, so limiting his production should be a point of emphasis.

Score Prediction

Both teams are seeking a complete performance after sloppy Week showings. Although the Rams won while Buffalo fell to New England, it almost felt like a loss – and really should have been, if the Eagles had a real quarterback (shot taken) and an ounce of offensive competence in the second half.

The Rams offense against the Bills defense should be a favorable matchup. On the other side, Josh Allen is the only thing stopping Josh Allen. Even with Watson back in the secondary, there’s not much anyone can do if Allen activates superhuman mode (like he did when the teams met last in 2024, accounting for six total touchdowns).

In a game projected to feature plenty of points, Los Angeles is favored by around a field goal and I feel better about its chances with how the injury report has shaken out.

At the same time, this team hasn’t exactly earned fans’ trust. Allen will be the best player on the field and, despite throwing three picks in the past two weeks, isn’t likely to make a similar mistake to bail out the Rams if they sleepwalk through a whole half.

Prove it, Los Angeles. Prediction: Bills 31, Rams 28.
