DaRon Bland, who was the Cowboys’ best and most expensive cornerback ahead of the 2026 season, hasn’t had much success yet heading into Week 6. Bland is in his 5th NFL season, and spent the past two seasons dealing with foot injuries.
Team owner Jerry Jones was asked during his Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) if he was concerned about Bland following a similar path as cornerback Trevon Diggs and struggle to come back after multiple injuries.
Diggs, the former Cowboy who is now on the Seattle Seahawks, was waived by the Cowboys in 2025 after six seasons with the team. The cornerback had a season-ending ACL tear in 2023 and separate season-ending knee surgery in 2024. In 2025, Diggs struggled both on and off the field before he was waived.
Jones isn’t worried about their similarities, though.
“I think that, in my mind, they’re different players,” Jones said. “Their skill sets are different, their makeup is different and I don’t have that same concern.”
