HOUSTON – The long journey is nearly over for Texans wide receiver Tank Dell who is set to return to on Sunday when the Texans host the New York Giants at Reliant Stadium.
“We will see Tank out there Sunday versus the Giants,” Ryans said Monday afternoon. “I’m very excited to see him back.”
Dell, who suffered a severe knee and leg injury late in the 2024 season, hasn’t played and many wondered if he would ever return. Dell has gone through extensive rehab often posting updates on his social media platforms.
The injury occurred in Kansas City in December of 2024 where Dell dislocated his knee while also tearing his ACL, MCL and Lateral collateral ligaments while somehow still catching a touchdown pass against the Chiefs.
Monday afternoon Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans told the media on a zoom call that Dell will be activated and will play this weekend. Dell’s been in the 21-day evaluation window for a couple of weeks and that will continue this week during workouts. If there are no setbacks then fans will welcome the former University of Houston star back.
Dell, who’s 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, had been on the Texans injured reserve list all season but has continued to make progress leading up to being placed in the 21-day window. By doing so the Texans can now officially activate Dell from injured reserve.
“I just expect Tank to be himself when he returns and no huge expectations,” Ryans added Monday. “Just excited to see him out there for the first time in over two years. We all know Tank is an explosive player and I expect him to really stress defenders.”
