The Los Angeles Rams will be in the market for a wide receiver addition before the NFL trade deadline, and one intriguing name has emerged as a potential target: Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr.

With Davante Adams expected to miss 6-10 weeks because of a hamstring injury, the Rams have a significant hole to fill in their passing game. Thomas would make sense for them, especially as they try to stay competitive despite falling to 2-4.

The Rams entered the season with one of the league’s more talented receiving combinations in Adams and Puka Nacua, but injuries have repeatedly disrupted that group. Adams’ latest injury is the biggest problem, with Sean McVay confirming that the veteran receiver could miss up to 10 weeks.

Nacua has also dealt with injuries throughout the season, although he has returned to the lineup after missing time. Without Adams, the Rams’ receiving depth becomes considerably less intimidating behind Nacua. The production outside of their top options has been limited, making a trade for an established receiver an increasingly logical possibility.

The connection between the two organizations could also make a deal easier to explore. Jacksonville general manager James Gladstone spent years with the Rams before taking over the Jaguars, giving the front offices familiarity with one another.

Thomas could be the perfect Rams swing

Thomas’ situation in Jacksonville has changed dramatically since his breakout rookie season. The 2024 first-round pick produced 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, but his production dropped off last season, and he has barely been involved in the offense in 2026.

That decline is a major reason why the Jaguars could now be willing to listen to trade offers. Multiple league executives reportedly expect Jacksonville to seriously consider moving Thomas before the Nov. 10 deadline as his role continues to diminish.

For the Rams, however, Thomas would represent more than a short-term replacement for Adams. He is only 24 years old and still has the physical tools and previous production to become a long-term weapon alongside Nacua.

Los Angeles would have to determine how much draft capital it is willing to surrender, especially after already trading significant assets for Myles Garrett and other upgrades. But if the Rams believe they can salvage their season, acquiring Thomas could be the type of aggressive move that completely changes their offense.

The Rams need a wide receiver and the Jaguars may be ready to move Thomas. Since the two front offices are already familiar with each other, this is a trade connection worth watching closely.
