The Rams entered the season shoulder-high as Super Bowl favorites. But it seems the betting market now treats them like a team it can’t wait to fade. They opened the week as 5.5-point favorites, and that number has melted to 3.5 at BetMGM heading into Sunday’s clash against the Raiders.

Honestly, it’s hard to blame anyone moving money toward Las Vegas. The Rams (2-4) have covered just twice in six tries this season, and their injury report reads like a triage list. Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is questionable with a calf injury after missing Friday’s practice, cornerback Trent McDuffie is questionable after sitting out all week, and linebacker Nate Landman is out with a concussion.

The Raiders (3-3) have their own question mark in the backfield, with rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. listed as questionable with foot and back injuries. Raiders receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. returned to practice from injured reserve but has been ruled out.

Rams vs. Raiders prediction, pick

The Raiders’ defense has a habit that should worry a Rams offense playing without its full receiving corps. Las Vegas has forced 14 fumbles this season, the most in the NFL, even though fewer of them have landed in the Raiders’ hands during the losing streak. If Nacua can’t go, the Rams will be leaning on backups at receiver, and that makes every loose ball a bigger deal.

The tougher part of this game is the Rams’ pass defense when it gets home. Opposing quarterbacks have a 0.0 passer rating on 27 attempts under pressure against Los Angeles this season, and the Rams haven’t allowed a single conversion on third-and-10 or longer. Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins has to stay ahead of the sticks, which means the Raiders need running back Ashton Jeanty to give them something on first down.

The total also leans high. The Raiders have gone over in four of their six games this season, and they have topped the second-half total in 11 of their last 16. With the Raiders’ defense giving up chunks lately and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford on the other side, 48.5 feels a little low for two offenses that can push the ball down the field..
