The Cincinnati Bengals entered this offseason knowing they would need to replace the edge rushing from Trey Hendrickson as he headed off to Baltimore.
Well, they found that in former Seahawk Boye Mafe.
Through the first six weeks, Mafe has looked like a solid pickup, as he’s having a pass-rush win rate close to 20%.
So, how does that compare to his predecessor in Hendrickson and his season for the Ravens? Mafe is dominating the matchup at the moment.
Now Mafe has out-snapped Hendrickson by quite a bit, but overall you have to be impressed with the numbers from the first year Bengal. For this team to make a run to win the AFC North or secure a wild-card spot, the defense is going to need to keep stepping up. With Bryan Cook back to full health, and then the play of Mafe, you have to feel good about the direction of the unit.
Now let’s hope Mafe gets home more this weekend than Hendrickson in Baltimore.
