The Cleveland Browns enjoyed a much-deserved day off on Monday after their latest last-minute win of the season.

It also allowed the team to start mentally preparing for this week’s trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. Of all the bizarre stats that have enveloped the franchise since 1999, the fact that the Browns have not won a regular-season game in Pittsburgh since 2003 has to rank high on the list.

It won’t be easy – it rarely has been for the Browns in Pittsburgh going all the way back to 1970 – but with the way the season has gone so far, this could be the team to finally come back home with a win.

To do that, the Browns are going to have to keep playing defense at a high level, and have the offense finally put together a full game.

They certainly trended in the right direction against Tennessee with 26 first downs and 491 yards of offense, but the offense is still ranked just 26th in EPA per play after seven weeks. That is an improvement over last season, when the Browns finished No. 32, but also an indication that the offense is still leaving some meat on the bone.

Before the hype train fully leaves the station, let’s kick off the day with the latest edition of the Daily Dawg Chow.

The last time the Browns …

The last time the Browns were in first place on Halloween was in 1995. Bill Belichick was the head coach. Eric Zeier (Eric Zeier!) was the starting quarterback. What a time it was!

Just don’t look too closely at what happened next.
