GREEN BAY, Wis. — This week’s Organized Team Activities offer a chance for Green Bay Packers receivers — veterans and rookies — to work together on the field.
Veteran Romeo Doubs said he doesn’t mind sharing knowledge with young receivers, even in a contract year.
“It does not change me at all,” said Doubs. “If anything, I think the ultimate responsibility on my end is to be able to guide them. Just get them ready to play as fast as they possibly can. Just keep continuing to give them info within this offensive system. I know if they ever got any questions, they can come to me, they can come to Jayden, because we got a ton of guys in our room.”
First-round pick Matthew Golden was drafted to add a jolt to the Packers’ receiving corps.
“Oh man, the kid’s a stud,” said Doubs. “Doesn’t really say much. He just comes in and works. He has been real consistent in that area. The kid’s playing fast right now, so I’m excited to see what he can do.”
“I just like his approach, how he comes to work every day,” said Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. “He gives great effort and his attitude has been outstanding. He’s a talented young player. Still got a lot to learn. But, I think he’s showing improvement every day.”
Doubs politely brushed aside questions about his concussions and suspension last season, saying he wants to look forward.
“I’m going to be completely honest with you, man,” said Doubs. “Is there some regret behind that (suspension)? There is, but obviously that was in the past. Stays in the past.”
Doubs said the biggest lesson he learned from that is the need for better communication.
Doubs has long been a vocal supporter of quarterback Jordan Love, who’s about to enter his third season as the starter.
“Progress, man,” said Doubs. “I think this is what this league is all about. Just building upon what you’ve done, good or bad. I believe there’s always good, just to learn from.”
Doubs and Love worked together in the offseason, as they’ve done in the past, to enhance their on-field chemistry.
