CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The Carolina Panthers released a video Monday showing the moment they drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.
The dramatic footage inside the draft room showed general manager Dan Morgan deciding what to do with the No. 8 pick in real-time.
Morgan had to make a last-second decision. It appeared the Panthers were dead set on either trading back with the Rams for the No. 26 pick — or taking their guy.
“I could feel my heart pounding,” said Brandt Tillis, the executive vice president of football operations. “We’re on the clock, and the Rams are asking, ‘Hey, do you guys want to do this trade?‘”

In the all-access video, Tillis was taking calls back and forth from Los Angeles. During those conversations, Morgan, Tillis, and the Rams negotiated the terms of a possible trade.
However, Morgan knew exactly what he wanted to do.
“They [the Rams] would’ve had to give us the moon to trade out of that spot,” Morgan said.
Morgan gave a counteroffer, and the Rams declined, making the final decision clear.
“Alright, T-Mac,” Morgan said.
And the draft room erupted in cheers and claps.
