New York Jets Have Warriors At Key Position originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New York Jets entered the offseason wanting to sure up their offensive line. After drafting Armand Membou with the No. 7 overall pick int he 2025 NFL Draft, it seemed as though New York had completed its five man group, with four of the five likely starters being homegrown talent.

However, while the team is high on the offensive line as a grouping, the center position may not be as locked up as it may seem.
Joe Tippmann has been the center for the Jets over the past two seasons, and after a strong 2024 campaign, seemingly proved to be one of the brightest young centers in the NFL.
That didn’t stop the Jets from adding a veteran at the position in Josh Myers, who isn’t pencilled in as depth, instead he could be competing for the starting spot. After an up-and-down final season in Green Bay, the former Ohio State standout has started over 50 games at center in his NFL career.
Head coach Aaron Glenn made it clear that while Tippman will be given a chance to start during league meetings in March, Myers would challenge him during camp for the starting spot.

Another offensive lineman has taken notice of the competition in John Simpson, who commented on the dual during OTAs.
“Josh … he’s super smart. He’s one of those guys you can draw something up for, and he can figure it out,” Simpson said. “Same thing for Tipp. Those guys are battling their asses off and just competing. Both are super intelligent and fighting. They are warriors.”
Simpson has been one of the best free agent pickups for the Jets in recent memory, serving as an elite run blocker and serviceable pass protector. Simpson is entering the final year of his deal and is going to be playing alongside the most talented line the Jets have deployed in years.
As the left guard, Simpson will be working (almost literally) hand-in-hand with whomever earns the starting center position. He appears to be comfortable with the veteran Myers or the youngster in Tippman, who he shared plenty of snaps with last season.
