Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. is dealing with a hamstring injury. According to head coach Dave Canales, Horn missed Carolina’s practice on Tuesday, but isn’t expected to miss much time.

“He’s got a hamstring that we’re managing right now, so we’re just rehabbing him,” Canales told reporters. “He’s in return to play.” The Panthers will hold their final OTA practice on Friday. It comes before a three-day minicamp from June 10-12.

Horn was one of the wide receivers drafted by the Panthers in April. The former Colorado standout gives quarterback Bryce Young a deep weapon in his third NFL season. Horn’s speed makes him a threat against NFC South competition. Canales has raved about Horn’s playmaking abilities.

“Jimmy gives us a lot of options,” Canales said. “There’s some perimeter things we can do with him. The jet sweep game, but then also from his college film he’s a receiver first and foremost. He can stretch the field. He can separate and he’s got a lot of energy and passion.”

Horn’s draft stock was low due to injury in his senior season. He suffered a lower body injury, which kept him out for the final month of the season.

Horn was one of three former Colorado receivers drafted in April, including Heisman winner  Travis Hunter (Jacksonville Jaguars) and wide receiver LaJohntay Wester (Baltimore Ravens). He’ll try to be a regular option in the Panthers’ future plans.
