Former Eagle Trashes Organization For Dysfunction originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Doug Pederson hasn’t been the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles for four seasons now. While his meteoric rise as the franchise’s first Super Bowl-winning coach was historic, his downfall was also staggering.

A big reason for Philadelphia’s downfall in the Pederson era was a growing animosity from people in the team facility.
It seemed that everyone felt they alone knew the reasons for their success.
It came to a head in 2020 when those issues were put under a spotlight and when all involved were put on blast in a 4-11-1 season that saw the end of Pederson’s time here and caused an entire organizational shift.
Former Pro Bowl wide receiver Golden Tate was only part of the Eagles for a few months in 2018. He wasn’t around when the collapse first happened.
He may have been around to see the first few cracks in the foundation, however.

Speaking on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, Tate called out the 2018 Eagles for being all-time awful for him during his 11-year career.
“The most dysfunctional locker room for me was the Philadelphia Eagles,” Tate said. “The most dysfunctional place. Now, the fanbase, you want to be on their side. We all know that. They are very passionate. Their fans know their sports but inside that locker room…”
Tate would later go on to detail a moment in a walkthrough where an undisclosed offensive lineman and coach got into a fight that essentially halted practice.
Notably, Philadelphia managed to reach the divisional round of the playoffs that year anyway.

But the damage was done. The animosity and toxicity had seeped into the locker room.
And would later cost many people their jobs.
All’s well that ends well, though. Philadelphia is beyond those squabbles in the locker room, and has risen above to be crowned Super Bowl champions. … all while hopefully keeping ugliness in the past.
